Hi there! I've been involved in the educational field since 2010. From humble beginnings as a dabbler in poetry to a lover of the grand narrative, I've spent the course of my career trying to apply the power of the Campbellian narrative to the lives of students from many backgrounds.
My journey has taken me everywhere from the inner-city library to public school classrooms, beach mansions, and dojos abroad.
My mission continues to be connecting with students and helping them make sense of and meaning of their lives through the lens of story.
"I worked with Sam on my college essays several years ago. He understood my strengths and helped me effectively communicate my story to the college admissions officers. Now, four years later, I’ve graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Studio Arts/Graphic Design, been a part of the M-School (Creative Marketing 2-Year Program), and continued to work on music on the side. I’ve been able to pursue the passions that I dreamed of in my college essays, and I could not have imagined a better school for me to do so. Sam pushed me to showcase my creative passions and highlight my love for music and art throughout my essays. I am grateful for his expertise which has helped me get to where I am today."
"Sam utilizes the ideas that the student already has a develops them into a fully developed essay. It's more than just answering the prompt. It's to distinguish and separate our writing from the others. Sam helped to do this by using his sense of language understanding to find insight into the personal events of my life."
"I have worked with Sam since the beginning of my college personal statement writing process. He has always been a great guiding hand, helping me to organize my thoughts, brainstorm ideas for a narrative that I wished to write about, and encouraging me to think outside the box. He never once discouraged me from doing a specific idea, but rather was a guiding hand helping me explore the pros and cons of the idea and ultimately leaving the final decision to me. My final personal statement is more reflective of who I am than anything I could have written alone, and the thought processes and writing fundamentals Teacher Sam has taught me throughout the application period are still useful during my time in college writing biographies or personal statements when applying for scholarships, programs, and more."
